Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers are a game-changer for custom apparel and merchandise — but pressing them correctly is key to getting vibrant, long-lasting results. Whether you’re a small business or a DIY creator, here’s how to get it right every time.

🛠️ Supplies You’ll Need:

  • A heat press (not an iron)
  • A lint roller
  • Teflon sheet or parchment paper
  • Your garment (cotton, polyester, blends, etc.)
  • Your DTF transfer

Step-by-Step Pressing Instructions:

  • Pre-Press the Garment
  • Set your heat press to 300–325°F.
  • Press the garment for 5–7 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  • Use a lint roller to clean the press area.
  1. Place the Transfer
Align the DTF transfer face-up on the garment where you’d like the design.
No need for adhesive or pre-treatment — DTF is ready to go!
  2. Press the Transfer
Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper.
Press at 300–325°F for 10–15 seconds with medium to firm pressure.
  3. Cool Peel
Let the transfer cool completely (about 30 seconds or more).
Peel the carrier sheet slowly and evenly.
  4. Optional Second Press
For extra durability and a matte finish, re-press the garment with parchment or a Teflon sheet for 5–7 seconds.

Tips for Success:

Always test your press with a sample if it’s your first time.
Use even pressure — uneven presses lead to peeling corners.
Store your transfers flat, in a cool and dry place.
